All Veterans Funeral & Cremation - Centennial
Ileen Janet Robinson
January 16th, 1946 - July 28th, 2024
Ileen Janet Robinson, age 78, passed away on July 28, 2024. Ileen was a kind, caring, loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend. A Colorado native, Ileen was born to William Hutchinson and Anna Shreeves in Delta, Colorado, and lived almost her whole life in the state. An only child, Ileen was “adopted” as a sibling by her loving cousins in the Shreeves family, with whom she always stayed close and loved dearly. She was always fond of the time she spent with her cousins and their adventures together on the family ranch.
Ileen was a loving and adoring wife to her husband Bill Robinson, whom she married in 1974 and remained so until his death in 2013. Ileen was the most amazing mother to her two sons, James and John, and to her daughter-in-law Heather. For Ileen, her family was the most important part of her life and she lovingly doted on all of them. She was the grandmother of Mia and Daphne Robinson and their greatest fan and supporter. She was also grandmother to her “granddogs” Lucy and Daisy.
Ileen was a sister-in-law to Bill’s sister Ruth and Brother Jim and his wife Ionne, who were like siblings to her, and aunt to their children and spouses. In Ruth’s family, she was an aunt to Karen and Keith Cowling and great aunt to their Sons Nathaniel, Sam and Carlos; to Rick and Michelle Lay and great aunt to their Daughters Rylee and Reis; to Ron and Renee and great aunt to their sons Zach, Jake and Nick; to Don and Myko Lay and great aunt to their daughters Mattison and McKenna. In Jim’s family, Ileen was aunt to Ronna Russi; to Laurie and Terry Jordon and great aunt to their son Tyler and daughter Olivia; and aunt to Ken Robinson. Ileen was a close member of the Robinson and Lay families whom she loved dearly and with whom her family is still close, sharing many fun family moments together.
Ileen graduated from Delta High School and attended business college. Her career was working as a legal secretary, working for attorneys throughout the places she lived in Colorado. She worked for the senior partner of the firm Arnold and Porter in Denver for the majority of her career until she retired.
Ileen was the neighborhood mom. She took care of her sons and all of their friends, cooking huge meals for all of them, making stacks of pancakes for everyone after sleepovers, and always making sure the boys were all cared for. She was the most generous and loving mom anyone could have, and had enough love and energy for all of the boys who were John’s and James’ friends.
Ileen was an adventurous spirit with a calmness in her. In her free time, she loved to walk and read spy novels, and loved the outdoors. She loved dogs and loved to spend time caring for and playing with them. She was an artist who enjoyed painting, and she loved traveling and camping. She and Bill had numerous road trip adventures all over the United States and Canada alone and with Jim and Ionne. She was a stargazer, marveled by the beauty of the universe. She played softball, swam with her granddaughters, hiked and played in rivers. She loved seeing the leaves turn in Colorado and leaves were some of her favorite decorations, along with different stones, rocks and crystals. Ileen was a spiritual woman, a Christian, whose faith was a strong part of her life. She was a regular church goer and contributor, most recently with Red Rocks Church.
Ileen will be reunited with her husband Bill at Fort Logan National Cemetery (4400 West Kenyon Avenue, Denver, Colorado) on August 30th, 2024 promptly at 11:00AM. Attendees are asked to stage for the service in Staging Area A by 10:45. A celebration of life luncheon will be held following the services at Maggiano’s Little Italy restaurant (7401 S Clinton St, Englewood, CO 80112) from 12:00PM-3:00PM.
