Dorothy Elaine Frost, 83, of Kernersville, peacefully went to be with the Lord August 24, 2024.  She was the daughter of the late Dempsey and Dorothy Frost in Thomasville, NC on June 12, 1941.  She spent most of her young life in Galax, VA, until she relocated to Kernersville in 1966.

Elaine worked at Northwestern Bank in Kernersville and Walkertown Gardens of Memory before going back to school at UNCG to earn her Accounting degree.  She worked at Bonset America as a financial officer until her retirement.  She worked as a CPA from home preparing taxes for many years.  Her last job, which she truly loved, was working for Kernersville Moravian Church as a bookkeeper and financial secretary.

Elaine attended Main Street United Methodist Church and was a member of the Cornerstone Sunday School Class.  She was very active in the Pilgrimage Retreats until her health wouldn’t allow. Her hobbies included playing cards, reading a good book, watching movies and shopping.

Elaine was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Kenneth Richard Higgins, late husband Alton Redmon, and a sister Priscilla Baumgardner.  She is survived by a son, Scott Higgins and wife Tina, and daughter Lori Rohs.  She is survived by five grandchildren, Blair Howard and husband Sam, Blain Atkins and husband Matt, Griffin Rohs, Mattie Olsen and husband Brenny, and Grayson Rohs and wife Jesse.  Elaine was especially proud of her four great grandchildren, Olivia, Jackson, Porter and Graham.

A funeral service will be held at Main Street United Methodist Church on September 4, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. with a small reception afterwards in the Church Commons area.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Main Street United Methodist Church Building Fund or Trellis Supportive Care (Hospice), 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
