Betty Mildred Serna (84) passed away peacefully on August 16, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Betty was born in Center, CO on September 16, 1939, to Antonio and Elvira Olguin. Betty married Porfirio “Pete” Serna of La Garita, CO on December 29, 1956, in Taos, New Mexico. They then made Colorado Springs their home and started their family and were married for 65 years. 

 

Betty was a dedicated Jehovah’s Witness, baptized on September 13, 1975. She was a member of the Hillside and Pikes Peak congregations and enjoyed reading her scriptures daily, going out in the ministry with friends, attending the weekly meetings and annual conventions. 

 

Betty enjoyed cooking and baking for family and friends, and always welcomed anyone who visited, no one ever left hungry. She had a great sense of humor and was very kind and caring to everyone. 

 

She was preceded in death by her husband Porfirio “Pete”, and parents Antonio and Elvira, siblings; Gilbert, Carmen, Virginia and Mary. 

 

She is survived by her children, Reggie (Karen), Gerald (Magda), Marsha, Darla (Ray) Wolford, Dolores (Jimmy) Pereida, and Gilbert. Grandchildren, Joshua, Megan (Craig) Robinson, Marissa (Alfredo) Perez and Ashley Pereida. Great-grandchildren, Brenne, Jayden, Arianna, Silas, and Grayson. One sister, Ida Gallegos and numerous nieces and nephews. 

 

The memorial service will be held on Friday, September 06, 2024, 1 PM at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 720 Crestline Drive, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80916.
