Roy S. McEwen, Jr.

In Loving Memory
Roy S. McEwen, Jr., 94, passed away at home in Lexington, SC, on September 1, 2024. A native of western Pennsylvania, he obtained a degree in Business Administration from the University of Pittsburgh. Following his military service in the Army, he married Frances W. Brown of Maryland and they then resided in Baltimore. He worked for Western Electric as an accountant and then as a Certified Internal Auditor for 30 years. He ended his career with a Western Electric subsidiary, Nassau Recycle in South Carolina. Following Frances’ death in 1993, while living in Florida after his retirement, he married, the now late, Carole Toole and relocated back to Columbia. Active in Masonry for over 70 years, he served as Master twice and was a member of the Scottish Rite, the York Rite, Order of the Amaranth (served as Grand Royal Patron twice), the Shrine and several other Masonic organizations.
He is survived by his daughter Carol Quintela Do Carmo (husband Edmond) and three grandchildren Anna Brown, Gabriela Quintela Do Carmo, Daniel Quintela Do Carmo, as well as his step-daughter Leslie Stanley (husband Dennis).
Friends will be received at the Church of the Good Shepherd (Episcopal), 1512 Blanding St., Columbia, SC, at 10 am, followed by a Requiem Mass celebrated at 11am on September 7, 2024. Interment will be at Roselawn Cemetery in Tallahassee, FL. at a later date.
