Michal Witold Kmita
August 6th, 1982 - September 1st, 2024
Michal Witold Kmita passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on September 1, 2024. Michal was born August 6, 1982 in Poland. He is survived by his wife, Rachael, and their two boys, Ari and Ethan. Also by his mother, Basia, his brother, Marcin, his sister, Edyta, and many, many friends and extended family.
Michal came to the US with his family when he was 5 years old. He completed a BSBA in Commercial Real Estate at Colorado State University and worked in that industry for a short while and realized it was not fulfilling. He longed for more. While searching for his next steps, he worked with O’Meara Ford for several years in fleet sales.
In his late twenties, he committed his life to Jesus and hit the accelerator. Like most things Michal did, he did not do them half-way. After a mission trip to Afghanistan, he found his calling reaching others in developing countries. Michal and his friend David Pessak started Invictus and began inspiring college students to use their knowledge and gifts to bless struggling communities in developing countries.
Michal continued on this journey of personal and spiritual growth, leading at least 15 trips to Kenya, Brazil, Nepal, India, Nicaragua, Morocco, developing strong, lifetime friendships with the students and the members in the communities with whom they partnered.
God brought Rachael and Michal together in 2016. He proposed to her in Morocco in April 2017 and they married on September 3, 2017. They complemented each other in so many ways. They started the Moringa Vinga sipping vinegar business together. With Rachael’s creativity and ideas, and Michal’s business acumen and drive, they built the business to the point where they could do it full time. They started their family with Ari in 2020, and then with Ethan in 2023. They worked intentionally at growing in their relationship just as hard as they worked on their business.
He is sorely missed and leaves a large void. Michal’s commitment to building community inspires us to grieve together and lean on each other during this time.
