Thomas George Hynes passed away on September 3, 2024, at the age of 76.  He resided with his wife and son in Ruskin, Florida. Tom was born in Brooklyn, New York, on August 25, 1948.  He spent most of his early life in Brooklyn. After serving in the Army during the Vietnam War, he went to work for Aetna Life and Casualty in New York City.  He was later transferred to the Tampa office, and after a number of years underwriting, he was then transferred to the Fort Lauderdale area as a marketing representative.  In 1986, Tom left  Aetna and became an independent insurance agent, working for several agencies in Broward County.  He lived there with his wife and son until 2021.  At that time, they made the move to Ruskin.

He is survived by his wife, Christina Milian Hynes, and his son Timothy Michael Hynes, as well as his sister, Betty Jane Jacox, brother George Hynes (Arlene), nephew Kevin Jacox, great-niece Phoenix Jacox, and brother-in-law Rocky Galuzzo, and many cousins.  He was predeceased by his sister Peggy Galuzzo, parents Tom and Margaret Hynes, and nephew Brian Jacox.

Tom attended grammar school at St. Francis of Assisi in Brooklyn, followed by Saint Francis Prep, also in Brooklyn.  He received a Bachelor in Business Administration from Saint Bonaventure University in Saint Bonaventure, New York on June 1, 1979, and attained a Master of Business Administration from Fordham University in the Bronx, New York on August 6, 1975.

Tom enlisted in the United States Army in 1969, after graduating from St. Bonaventure. Part of his service included a tour of duty in Vietnam from September of 1970 until June of 1971, where he served in the 6/27th Field Artillery Division as a First Lieutenant.  Tom was awarded the Bronze Star during his time there for outstandingly meritorious service in ground operations against hostile forces. He also received the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal with 60 Device, and two overseas service bars.

Tom was a die hard New York Mets fan.  He was loyal through good and bad seasons and rarely missed a televised game.  He loved to cook, and in the last few years, picked up an interest in gardening. He loved theater, war movies, westerns, and cop shows.  He was a wonderful husband and father, and a great fur baby daddy.  Tom had a generous nature that not many were aware of.  He will be greatly missed.
