Jess Carey

Jess Carey of Olympia, WA passed away quite suddenly at home on 9/1/2024.

Jess, the beloved husband of Kathie Thompson, was born April 1, 1951. He grew up in West Chicago, Illinois, the son of Gene and Ginny Carey in a household big enough to host a baseball team as his dad would say. He was a fond brother of Pat, Jayne, Terry, Char, Ann, Colleen, Greg and David.

Jess loved old things – cars, motorcycles, wooden boats, antiques, and spending time on the water. And although Jess and Kathie did not have any “kids” of their own, they were surrounded by animals, (especially boxers) which were “his kids”. But most of all he loved his family and brothers and sisters, despite being miles apart.

Jess was a man of many talents. In his early years he worked as a groundskeeper at several golf courses, bartender, carpenter, cement worker, House Security at the House of Representatives, and a good portion of his later career installing weigh-in motion systems throughout the USA, Canada and Puerto Rico.

Jess was dearly loved by family and friends and will be truly missed
