Martha Raye Thompson Humphries was born March 3, 1938 in Fort Myers, Florida. She was raised in LaBelle, Florida by her father and mother, Kirby and Thelma Thompson. She had a younger sister, Edna Josephine(Jo Baby) Tucker. In June of 1956 she married Charles Humphries. She and Charles had two daughters, Cyndra Crittenden and Heidi Humphries Lederer. She and Charles also had two grandchildren, Nathan Willis (Cyndra) and Chloe Lederer (Heidi). Martha was highly involved in her church and the community of LaBelle. For many years she was the secretary of First Baptist, LaBelle. She also became the director of the preschool at First Baptist and also Caloosa Baptist. Later in life she worked many years as a substitute teacher. Martha's father, Kirby, was a ranch manager and for years she also worked the family's ranch in Hendry County. Mom I just want you to know you will be missed and never forgotten. Please give everyone up in Heaven a hug from Chloe and I. We will be together again! A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 21,2024, at 1100 a.m. at First Baptist Church, LaBelle, Visitation will be at 10:00 a,m, with dinner on the grounds following the service.
