It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Carolyn Middlebrooks Underwood, who left this world on September 17, 2024, at her home in Warner Robins, Georgia. Born on September 19, 1945, in Augusta, Georgia, Carolyn was a cherished wife, devoted mother, and beloved friend to many.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, September 26, 2024, at Heritage Memorial Funeral Home from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. The celebration of Carolyn’s life will take place on Friday, September 27, 2024, with burial to follow immediately at Parkway Memorial Gardens.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her dear parents, Samuel Middlebrooks and Thelma Tate and brothers, Eugene Rouse and James Milton Mason. She is survived by her loving spouse, Oree Underwood, Jr., with whom she shared a lifelong journey of love and companionship. Together, they explored numerous places across the world, always enjoying the wonders of travel. In addition to her beloved husband, Carolyn is survived by her children: Sabrina Sears, Antonio Sears, Anthony Sears, Angeles (Getonta) Taul, Chenise Underwood, and Kimberly McDonald; grandchildren, Travon Sears , Jeremy Sears, Jasmine Sears, Emanuel Jackson, Caleb Taul, Germani Whitman, Chermaine Whitman, Zuri Whitman, Jasmine McDonald, and Marcus McDonald, Jr; great grandchildren; Jeremy Jr., Jaliyah, Justin, Rayla Grant and Amarion Amison; great great grandchild, Nalani Renee Sears; brother-in-law, Greg O. Underwood and sister-in-law, Beverly Leonard; Aunt, Effie Williams; devoted cousin, Hattie Randall; devoted friend, Alice Jackson; and a host of extended friends and family.
Throughout her life, Carolyn demonstrated an unwavering commitment to her community. She graduated from Bibb County School System and attended Crandall Jr. College in Macon, Georgia. Carolyn was a magnificent cook. Her Southern delicacies and delightful meals brought joy to countless individuals. Apart from her culinary expertise, Carolyn was skilled in hairstyling—a testament to her multifaceted talents and creative nature. Carolyn spent many years as a beautician, making countless memories with clients. She generously donated to numerous organizations, embodying the spirit of giving and compassion. Her ability to connect with people was unparalleled, making her a true people person whose presence will be deeply missed. Carolyn found peace in attending church with her husband, where her faith and love for community were evident. Her nurturing personality and vibrant spirit were seen in everything she did, from her hairdressing to her rich culinary creations. Carolyn will be forever remembered by her caring smile and personality.
