Martha Ann O'Leary
September 25th, 1930 - September 3rd, 2024
Ann O’Leary, born September 25, 1930 in Paducah, Kentucky to Herdis and Dorothy (Hill) Bundy, passed away at her home with family by her side on September 3, 2024. She was such an inspiration to us, independent, curious, strong, caring and thoughtful. She liked to share special childhood memories of living through the Ohio River flood of 1937 in Paducah where she, her two brothers, sister, and parents were rescued by their Grandad in a boat. They had to go live in another town for several weeks and go to school where they were treated like they were famous! She graduated from nursing school in 1951, married FBI Agent B.J. (Jack) O’Leary in 1953 and moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado where they started their family. (Jack preceded her in November of 2011.) While Jack became a Deputy District Attorney, she was involved with the El Paso County Law Wives Association and served in many roles including as President. She became a passionate and dedicated nurse at Penrose Hospital in the birthing center for many years where she would often say she so loved “her babies”. She then spent several years at the Pediatric Associates office caring for children. This was all while raising four kids of her own! Ann was an avid bridge player for many, many years as well. There were lots of animated bridge parties and clubs that she was a part of and was known to be quite the card player! In her later years she was even the driver to take some of her 90-year-old friends to go play! She liked to sew and took up quilting, crafting many beautiful pieces. She created several quilts as high school graduation presents for her grandchildren. Ann had a deep Catholic faith all her life and was very involved with the church, volunteering in many different capacities over the years. Her favorite was tidying up the sanctuary after mass where she said it was so serene, just her and Jesus. She would often say she was praying for us all, that somebody had to! Jack and Ann raised four amazing children, Patti (Oliver), Brian (Margit), Kathleen (Scott) and Kevin (Trish) who are so grateful and blessed to have had her in their lives for so many great years. There are also the fabulous grandchildren Tony, Michael, Jeff, Patrick, Mollie, Cory, and Sean that will forever miss their Gramma! The lively great grandchildren that include Austin, Eli, Matthew, Janelle, Phoenix, Evelyn, Olivia, Roan and Finnley who will keep their GiGi’s spirit alive in their hearts. She was so proud of her ”Garden of Grands”! The family would like to thank the Pikes Peak Hospice team for their efforts in helping care for her. They are amazing professionals, so compassionate, caring and devoted. Mass will be held on October 24th, 10:30AM at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 3122 Poinsettia, Colorado Springs, Colorado. A reception will be held afterward at Hope House. Private interment at Pikes Peak National Cemetery alongside her husband Jack. Memorial contributions may be made in her name to Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Pikes Peak Hospice or Rocky Mountain PBS.
