Dora Griffith Rieger, a beloved and cherished member of our community, passed away peacefully on August 31, 2024, in Fort Myers, Florida. Born on March 1947, in Hyden, Kentucky, Dora’s life was a testament to hard work, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to her family and passions.
Dora was the proud owner of Pure Country Western Wear, a staple in Bradenton, Florida, where she created a haven for lovers of western clothing and accessories. Her store not only reflected her entrepreneurial spirit but also her personality—vibrant, welcoming, and full of charm. Dora had a unique knack for making everyone feel like family, a testament to her love for interacting with people.
She had a deep passion for country music, horse shoes, and cooking, often finding joy in sharing these interests with her loved ones. Dora was a real people person, and her home was always filled with warmth, laughter, and the delicious aroma of home-cooked meals. She had a special talent for making everyone feel at ease, a gift that will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Dora’s love for life extended beyond her store and her family. She was an avid bowler, earning numerous awards and almost going professional—a testament to her dedication and skill. Her love for cruising, playing slot machines, and collecting Native American jewelry, Christmas decorations, and ceramics enriched her life and brought her immense joy.
Dora is survived by her loving daughter, Lisa Duzan, and her siblings—Elbert Griffith, Kenneth Griffith, Harry Griffith, John Griffith, and Geraldine Griffith. She was preceded in death by her husband Alan J. Rieger, her brother, Rex Griffith; her sister, Wanda Griffith; and her dear parents, James Griffith and Ruby Jean Adams Griffith.
A visitation will be held from 12:00pm - 2:00pm on October 19, 2024, at Walker Funeral Home in Hyden, Kentucky. Friends and family are invited to come together to celebrate Dora's remarkable life, share memories, and offer their condolences.
Dora Griffith Rieger’s legacy is one of love, warmth, and boundless generosity. She touched the lives of many and leaves behind a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of knowing her. May her soul rest in eternal peace.
