Mary Lou (Sterrett) Boyer peacefully passed away at 77 years old in September 2024 surrounded by her loving family.
She will be missed by her husband Chip Boyer who was the love of her life for over 60 years.
She will also be missed by her beloved daughter, Heather Boyer McGinnis, husband Matt McGinnis and two grandchildren Morgan McGinnis and Brogan McGinnis.
Mary Lou graduated from College with a BS in Education and taught Elementary school until she found her true passion – Nursing.
She returned to school and became an RN, ET, and CWOCN and had a very successful career as a Nurse at Cleveland Clinic Florida. When she retired, she was awarded the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award for Excellence in Nursing.
Mary Lou leaves behind a loving family. Her Brother the Rev. William J. Sterrett and his wife Kapiopi, Sister-in-law Deborah Boyer Graves and husband Steve, Brother-in-law Robert Boyer and wife Joann and many nieces and nephews as well as many great-nieces and great-nephews.
Mary Lou is preceded in death by her parents William and Alice Sterrett, sister Betty Beatty, In-laws Edwin and Barbara Boyer and Brother-in-Law Bill Boyer.
Mary Lou will be remembered as someone who loved the Family Cruise vacations. She loved being at sea and watching the gentle waves. She also loved sewing. She created many gifts and quilts that will always reflect her love. At the yearly family Thanksgiving hosted by her Daughter and family, she always brought her home made selection of many flavors of bread. She passed this tradition on to her Granddaughter Morgan.
Mary Lou will be remembered as a kind and caring Mom and Grammy, family member, friend and Nurse by everyone who was privileged enough to have known her.
