With great sadness the family of  Lenore "Lynn" Donovan announces her peaceful passing on September 17, 2024, surrounded by family at her home in Roseville, California, due to dementia. She was 92. 

 

Lenore is survived by her husband of 62 years, Joseph Donovan of Edgartown, Massachusetts; her son John Donovan, his wife Heather Donovan, and children Seth Donovan and Brendan Donovan of Sacramento, California; her daughter Carol Sanchez, her husband Pantaleon Sanchez, children Mariah Sanchez and Nicolas Sanchez, and great grandson Brandon Sanchez of Sacramento, California; and sisters Sharon Mullins of West Virginia and June Cutright of Ohio.  She is preceded in death by her father John McCloud and mother Agnes McCloud of West Virginia; sisters, Lucille Withers, Carol Tyree, Nancy Baldwin, and Mildred McCloud; and brothers James McCloud, Warren McCloud, and Harry McCloud. 

 

Born April 7, 1932, in Marlinton, West Virginia, Lenore was the oldest of 10 siblings. She attended grammar school and high school in Marlinton before moving to Baltimore, Maryland, to enlist in the U.S. Army in 1951. Lenore served 3 years and reached the rank of Sergeant. She later enlisted in the U.S. Army Reserves for 5 years. Lenore and husband, Joseph, were married at the United Methodist Church in Santa Monica, California, in 1962 before moving to Ophir, California, where she raised her family and lived for 43 years before moving to Roseville, California, her final home.

 

Lenore worked in Federal civil service off and on for 20 years, including the Pentagon in Washington DC, the Veteran’s Administration in Los Angeles, and the U.S. Geological Survey in Sacramento. She enjoyed cooking for her family, fellowship in her church, and playing the guitar. She was an avid fan of the football team, San Francisco 49ers.

 

Lenore’s memory will remain forever in our hearts and with the many whose lives she touched.

She is laid to rest at Sacramento Valley National Cemetery in Dixon, California.
