“One Life Lived, Many Lives Touched”

Hilton Head Island, South Carolina – Louis E. Jones (Lou) passed away peacefully on September 28, 2024, at age 83. Lou was born to Charlie Jones and Elizabeth Elek in Columbus, Ohio. He was a brother to Robert and twin sisters, Charlotte and Alberta, all who proceeded him in death.

Lou attended the Pontifical College Josephinum seminary as a high school freshman and stayed through his first year of college, achieving his Business Administration degree at Bliss College. In that time-period, he developed a strong Catholic faith which remained incredibly important to him, and he made many life-long friendships that he cherished until his passing.

Lou started his career at Citibank as a teller. He always had a strong interest in security and significantly advanced his career through various accreditations and life experiences; eventually being promoted to Assistant Vice President of Security Investments at Bank One Corporation. He proudly served in the United States Army as a Reservist and was honorably discharged in 1969. He was an accredited CPP security professional with ASIS International and was designated as Special Policeman representing Bank One. Later in his career, Lou worked as a Director of Security for Fidelity Investments in Dallas, Texas and finished his career at the Crowne Plaza, Hilton Head in security and fraud.

Lou is survived by his loving wife Linda and was a devoted husband for 54 years. He first met Linda while on vacation in Jamaica and fell in love instantly. On return from his vacation, he immediately sent two dozen roses to Linda’s home in Windsor, Ontario, Canada and won Linda’s heart given his kind and gentle nature. Linda’s parents, Alex and Anne Ciebin knew that after meeting Lou for the first time, he would be a big part of the Ciebin family. And as an uncle to the Ciebin children, his kindness, generosity and willingness to spend time with each of them, profoundly influenced their lives.

Together Lou and Linda loved to travel, celebrate holidays, spend time with extended family and nurtured many life-long friendships creating wonderful memories. Halloween was always his favorite time of year and he and he loved making the most elaborate costumes possible to celebrate the occasion.

He will be fondly remembered by his loving wife Linda, a large extended family in Canada, cousins in Michigan, nephews and nieces in Ohio and many friends in Hilton Head, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Ohio, New Jersey, California and Canada. All who knew him were better for it.

A Funeral Mass in Lou’s honor will be held at St. Francis by the Sea Catholic Church, Hilton Head Island, SC, on Tuesday, October 22, at 10;00 am. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your favorite charity.
