Margaret Ann Feller
July 29th, 1938 - September 19th, 2024
Surrounded by her loving family, Margaret Feller was received into heaven on September 19, 2024 at the age of 86. She was currently residing in Federal Way, WA at Village Green Retirement Community where she was graciously cared for over the past 5 years. Margaret was born in Eugene, Oregon on July 29th, 1938, to Thomas and Helen Grant. She was the oldest of three children. Her younger sister Barbara Phillips and brother-in-law Robert Phillips and brother Robert Grant preceded her in death.
She was born and raised in Eugene, Oregon and attended Francis Willard Elementary School, Roosevelt Middle School, and Eugene High School. She worked for the University of Oregon in the business department for multiple years after high school. She then took a job with the ticket office for the University of Oregon. She loved the Oregon Ducks and bled green and yellow.
She met her husband Erich Feller on a blind date, at a German May Day dance in 1966. They married in 1967 and raised their four children together. They joined Messiah Lutheran Church in 1974 where they were lifelong members. Margaret and Erich loved their home and loved to garden. Margaret would spend hours in her yard attending to her flowers, talking to herself, figuring out life or chatting with neighbors. As a family, they loved the outdoors and hiked, biked, and camped for many vacations.
Margaret spent over 30 years working as the Assistant Ticket Manager at the University of Oregon in the Athletic Department. She knew most everyone in Eugene! She loved asking questions and was genuinely interested in everyone’s individual stories. She retired in 1996. She spent her free time enjoying her grandchildren, volunteering at Messiah Lutheran Church, gardening, square dancing, attending and hosting card groups, volunteering at the local hospital and attending any and all athletic events at the U of O.
In retirement, Margaret and Erich traveled all over the world, alone and with friends, enjoying cruises and visiting Erich’s family in Germany They spent a month every spring in Mazatlán Mexico for the past 25 years. Mazatlán held a special place in her heart. She loved the sun, the people and the beaches of Mexico. She last visited in May 2024.
She moved to Federal Way, WA in 2019 after Erich passed away, to be closer to her daughter (Heidi) and son (Stefan) and her many grandchildren. She loved attending her grandchildren’s athletic events and concerts. She participated in many activities in her retirement community including scenic drives, lunches out, playing bingo, bible studies, line dancing, and card games. She loved getting to know her new friends and learning about their unique histories. She could hold a conversation with anyone. She was deeply loved, and is now at peace in the arms of Jesus.
Margaret is survived by her sons Stefan Feller (Des Moines, WA), Walter Sweet (Eureka, CA), Tim Sweet (Springfield, OR), daughter Heidi (Philip) Nordling (Federal Way, WA), grandchildren Mckenna, Julia, Keegan, Eli, Liesl.
