Waylon Lane Painter, 22, of Gate City went to be with our Lord and Savior on Wednesday, October 2, 2024. He was a graduate of Gate City High School in the class of 2020. Waylon loved to drive whether it was his car or his four-wheeler. He also enjoyed playing basketball and spending time with his friends and family. Waylon was a loving father, son, boyfriend, brother, and friend who will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his father, George Painter; maternal grandmother, Shirley Lane; paternal grandparents, Donald and Cathleen Painter.
Survivors include his daughters, Ama and Alana Painter; wife, Melina Painter; mother, Gracie Painter; brother, Bill Painter; sister, Ashley Painter; grandfather, Frank Lane; uncle, Jerry Lane and wife Lori; aunt, Eva Overbay; along with a host of friends and extended family.
A graveside service will be conducted at 3pm on Sunday, October 6, 2024 at the Falin Cemetery in Yuma which is located behind the family's home. Pastor Josh Banks will officiate. Pallbearers will be Bill Painter, Colton Banks, Noah Blessing, Jamie Adkins, Thomas Osborne, and Dakota Ketron. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery by 2:50pm.
