Rita Claire Veraldo

Rita Claire Veraldo passed away peacefully on October 5, 2024, in Colorado at the age of 95. 

She was the only child of Joseph and Ethel (Fenton) Murphy. A graduate of Park Ridge High School in New Jersey, Rita furthered her education by attending a Wood Business School in New York City, which paved the way for her successful career. Rita was a dedicated and hardworking individual throughout her entire life. She embarked on a fulfilling career journey that spanned over two decades, working in the accounting department of a publishing house from 1969 until her retirement in 1990. Her commitment to her profession was evident in her attention to detail and her unwavering dedication to her colleagues and employers.

Beyond her professional life, Rita was deeply engaged in hobbies that enriched her life. She was an avid sewer, baker, thrifty up-cycler before it was fashionable, painter, bowler and reader, each hobby providing her with joy and fulfillment. Rita was a devout Roman Catholic, participating actively in her church community, which played a significant part in her life. Her faith was a source of strength and comfort to her and she cherished the fellowship within her church.

Rita’s life was marked by the love and deep connections she shared with her family. She is survived by her children Joseph (Linda) of Ohio, Regina (Bruce - deceased) of Florida, Daniel (Coleen) of Colorado, and Kate (Michael – deceased) of Florida. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert, in 1979 and her son Matthew (Doris) of Florida in 2015. Rita was the proud grandmother to nine grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. Rita’s legacy of diligence, kindness and devotion will live on through the many lives she touched and she will be missed by all who knew her.

Memorial services will be held in New Jersey in 2025 where family, friends and those whose lives Rita touched can attend and celebrate her remarkable life. With sincere appreciation of the family, any contributions in memory of Rita may be made to the charity of your choice.
