Louise "LuAnn" Ann Gates
January 3rd, 1957 - October 3rd, 2024
Louise Ann Gates, known affectionately as LuAnn, passed away on October 3, 2024, in Stoughton, WI, at the age of 67. Born on January 3, 1957, in Marshfield, WI, to Louise G. and Carl N. Swedberg, she grew into a compassionate and dedicated individual, both in her professional and personal life.
LuAnn pursued her passion for helping others through her education, earning a diploma in nursing from St. Joseph's School of Nursing, a Bachelor of Science from the University of Wisconsin, Marshfield, followed by a Masters in Nursing Education from Viterbo University. She dedicated her career to neonatal intensive care, initially working at St. Joseph's Hospital where she cared for newborns with complex conditions. LuAnn later transitioned to educating healthcare professionals in electronic medical record documentation, impacting many lives through her commitment to excellence and care.
Outside of her professional endeavors, LuAnn was a skilled seamstress, specializing in knit fabrics, and an enthusiastic supporter of the Green Bay Packers, embodying the spirit of a true "Cheesehead."
LuAnn is survived by her son, Matthew Gates; brother, Carl A. Swedberg (Mary Jane Mader); sister-in-law, Melanie (Michael) Rumpf; nephews, David Rumpf, Andrew Rumpf, Carl C. Swedberg, Kurt M. Swedberg; and niece, Kristin Swedberg Wenzler. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Todd Gates, and her parents.
A Celebration of Life will be scheduled at a later date to honor LuAnn's memory. The family appreciates the outpouring of support and asks that memories and condolences be shared as they remember a life beautifully lived.
