Joe Vicars Day Jr. passed away peacefully on October 7, 2024 after a brief illness.  He leaves behind his devoted wife of 56 years Gail Day and their three children: Kip Day, Kollin Day; his wife Morgan; and Kortni Day.

Joe cherished his role as Poppy to his beloved grandchildren: Keaton, Connor and his fiancé Maggie; Gavin; Trevor and Piper.

Joe was born January 4, 1945, at the Methodist Hospital in Pikeville Kentucky to Joe and Noa Mae Day.  He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Kathie Yerves and Karan Day. He leaves behind a brother Jack Day.

He graduated from the University of Kentucky and worked for over 30 years at Eastman Kodak in Kingsport Tennessee.  He found great joy in a morning cup of coffee while watching the birds.  He loved to reminisce about his childhood growing up in Johnstown Kentucky and all his friends and adventures there.  His warmth, love and laughter will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Joe and Gail are members of Immanuel Lutheran Church in the Central Heights community. They enjoyed their weekly choir practice and going to church with all their friends and family.  His life revolved around those he loved, the family he raised and those he shared his faith with.

A graveside service will be held at 3:00 pm on Saturday, October 12, 2024 at Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery, Blountville, TN. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery at 2:50 pm.
