Mary Parks passed away peacefully in Arizona on October 8th, surrounded by family. 

Mary was a Senior Security Specialist at the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL), Kirtland Air Force Base, in New Mexico. She was actively employed and had 42 years of dedicated service to the Air Force. She was a highly respected and valued member of the AFRL Team. She was known for her expertise in security and her ability to establish personal relationships with colleagues across the Department of Defense. 

Over the course of her career, Mary made significant contributions to the security of the Air Force and its research programs and was instrumental in the development and advancement of Air Force technologies. Mary was highly regarded by her peers and command for her professionalism, dedication, and commitment to excellence. She was a mentor and a role model to many. Most of all, Mary was known for her infectious positive energy and radiant smile. She was always helpful and deeply aware of the importance of the AFRL mission in support of the nation’s defense. Her upbeat attitude and unwavering dedication made the hard work of long days more bearable. Mary was a true friend to many at AFRL and will be greatly missed. 

Outside of work, Mary lovingly worked hard to support her other roles in life as a mother and grandmother. She is survived by Monica Baker of Florida and Edward Parks and his wife, Mary Jin-Parks, of Arizona. Being a mother and grandmother was Mary’s driving force. “Mom-Mom” was everything to her little sun-shines: Mary-Kourtney, Joshua, Hudson, and Logan. Her shoes are ones they loved to walk in, but only she could fill. Mary poured herself into her children and grandchildren through love and education; her light will forever shine through them.
