Alvin Ray Hardy “Ray”, 88, passed away peacefully on October 5, 2024, at Hilton Head Island, SC. He was born on March 26, 1936, in Roanoke, VA, to Leonard C. Hardy and Velmer J. Hardy. Ray was a resident of Hilton Head Island, SC. Ray was a graduate of VPI Class of 1959.

He is survived by his wife Antoni Hardy “Toni”, his 2 children Tane Hardy and William Forrest Hardy, 5 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

Ray enjoyed teaching science and math. He changed his career to chemistry and retired from the insurance industry. Ray always considered himself a teacher.

Ray was a sports fan following baseball and college football (Go Hokies). He enjoyed team tennis on Hilton Head Island.

Ray served the Lord throughout his life, as a teacher, elder, deacon, Sunday school superintendent, choir member, and quartet member in churches in Virginia, Ohio, West Virginia, and South Carolina.

The family is planning services at Providence Presbyterian Church.
