Kathryn Ruth Daily

September 29, 1968 – September 27, 2024

Kathryn Ruth Daily, beloved mother, daughter, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 27, 2024, in Seattle, Washington, just shy of her 56th birthday.

Kathryn was the cherished and proud daughter of George and Patricia Daily, big sister to Suzanne and Michael, and devoted mother to her only child, Ziah Grace Olivia Daily. She is survived by her father, siblings, four nieces and nephews and her beloved daughter. Kathyrn had a way of making people feel special with her radiant smile and generous heart.

Art was Kathryn’s true passion, and her artistry shined brightly in everything she did. From murals to wedding photography to donating her talents at her daughter’s schools, Kathryn found joy in creating beauty. She studied Fine Art and Photography at Kendall College of Art and Design, earned a BA in Fine Art, and brought her creative talents into everything she touched. She kept an art studio for many years and was constantly creating art. One of her murals can still be seen at Beacon Hill P-Patch.

After college, Kathryn’s independent spirit brought her to Seattle, driving out alone from Michigan in the 1990s. She rapidly made many friends here and worked managing Ala Francaise, a local bakery and started exhibiting her art at local galleries and arts shows.

In 2002, she was overjoyed at the birth of her daughter Ziah and dedicated herself to providing Ziah with a wonderful childhood and an excellent education.

Kathryn spent her career in management and human resources, working at Lifelong AIDS Alliance, Country Doctor Community Clinic, and most recently as Assistant Director of Human Resources at the Archdiocese of Seattle. This work allowed her to help people in meaningful ways, which she loved. No one worked harder than Kathryn and she brought her kindness to every aspect of her work.

Outside of work and art, she spent her time with friends, watching plays, taking long walks, and indulging in nachos, grilled cheese, and Ethiopian food. One of her greatest joys was shopping with Ziah at TJ Maxx to celebrate birthdays, Christmas, and back-to-school. She was enormously proud to see Ziah graduate college in June of this year.

Kathryn’s life will be celebrated on Saturday, October 19, 2024, at Immaculate Conception Church (820 18th Avenue, Seattle, WA); the Funeral Mass will begin at 10 a.m., followed by a gathering at 11 a.m., and interment at 2 p.m. at Holyrood Cemetery in Shoreline, WA.

All are welcome to attend the funeral and celebrate Kathryn’s life. Those wishing to send or bring flowers may do so or in lieu of flowers, you may make donations to Coyote Central Art School in Kathryn’s memory. Those attending the funeral are asked to please remember to honor Kathryn by wearing a touch of green, her favorite color.

Kathryn will be dearly missed, but her love, warmth, and creativity will live on in the hearts of everyone who knew her.
