David Clayton Kaylor
May 2nd, 1949 - September 24th, 2024
David Clayton Kaylor of Hopkins, South Carolina passed away on September 24, 2024 with his family by his side. He was 75 years old. Born May 2, 1949 in Asheville, North Carolina to Verchial and Veda Kaylor. He was married to Judith Kaylor on June 3, 1967. David was an exceptionally proud and loving husband of 55 years, father of four children, grandfather of eight grandchildren and sibling to two brothers and two sisters. His greatest love was his wife and family. He cared deeply for them and always put them before himself.
David served his country honorably for over twenty-four years in the United States Army where he garnered the rank of Sergeant First Class. While he served, his career spanned over many specialties such as an Administrative Specialist, stationed at Fort Gordon, Georgia and a tour in Germany, Drill Instructor, at Fort Jackson, South Carolina, and then another tour in Germany, Inspector General, at Fort Meade, Maryland and First Sergeant at Hawk TAFT in the United Arab Emirates and finally at Fort Huachuca, Arizona where he retired and returned to Hopkins, South Carolina. He was the best husband and father a family could ever ask for and a proud soldier. Always provided a home and love for his family. There was not a soul he would not help, would give the shirt off his back if needed. His children called him their hero. He loved repairing engines, vehicles and completing home improvement projects.
David was predeceased by his wife, Judith Kaylor, his parents, Verchial and Veda Kaylor, brothers, Larry Kaylor, William Kaylor, sisters, Charolette Lewis, Cathy Hendrix and granddaughter, Lauren Huffman.
