Barbara Ann Berg, 67, of Meridian, Idaho (formerly of Carey, Idaho), passed away peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, October 6th, due to complications from heart failure.  Born on November 4, 1956, to Bill and Janet Berg, Barb was raised in Meridian, where she attended local schools and graduated from Meridian High in 1975.  An honor roll student and talented athlete, she enjoyed playing softball and basketball, but not many varsity sports were offered for girls at that time.  She lettered in tennis, and, during her senior year, she was crowned District Doubles Champion.

After high school, Barb attended Boise State University while working full-time at Idahy Federal Credit Union.  She graduated in 1981 with a degree in business education and later obtained her master’s degree in education. She began her teaching career at Carey High School, where she taught business classes for 35 years.  In addition to her role as a teacher, she coached volleyball and track, leaving a lasting impression on many of her players, some of whom were inspired to follow in her footsteps and coach future generations.

Barb's contributions extended far beyond the classroom and the field. She was an advisor for various student groups, involved in countless activities, and was always present at school events—whether behind the camera, running the scoreboard, or simply cheering on her students.  Her nephews and nieces remember visiting Carey and trips to the Craters of the Moon. She cherished watching their sporting events and loved gathering with family to enjoy Boise State football and basketball games.

After her retirement, Barb returned to Meridian, where she took great joy in caring for and spending time with her great-nieces and nephews, continuing to be a source of love and support for her family.

Her kind heart, unwavering dedication, and love for family, friends and community will be fondly remembered by all who knew her.

Barb was preceded in death by her parents and her sister-in-law, Linda Berg. She is survived by her siblings: Will Berg (Laura Lee), Debbie Warwick (Rex), and John Berg; her nieces and nephews: Danna Douglas (Tim), Brandon Berg, Shawn Warwick (Jennifer), Tyson Berg (McKenzie), Melissa Jenkins (Aaron), Corey Berg (Sheridan), Kimberly McMorrow (Kyle), Michelle Esters (Jordan), Spencer Berg (Shawn), and Haley Olson (Benjamin); as well as 15 great-nieces and nephews and one great-great-nephew.

Private graveside services will be held at Meridian Cemetery.  An open house to visit and remember Barbara's life will be from 2-5 pm on Sunday October 20 at Debbie and Rex Warwick's house - 558 East Kingsford Dr, Meridian, ID.   Donations may be sent to the Carey High School Memorial Fund or your favorite charity.

We Entrusted Barbara Berg's Care To

Accent Funeral Home

A local landmark in Meridian, Accent Funeral Home has been serving the community since 1986. The business was first established with a vision to offer services in a comfortable, homelike atmosphere. This vision is reflected in our building, a Tudor-style home built in 1938 for a local postman. When remodeling the house to accommodate the funeral home, much care was taken to preserve the original architectural integrity of the building. The Accent Funeral Home holds a special relationship with the Meridian community and is sensitive to the area’s changing needs, providing service and friendship to comfort those we serve....
