Marian Winn
October 8th, 2024
In Loving Memory
Marian Winn, age 93, of Lexington, South Carolina, went home to her Lord and Savior on October 8, 2024.
She was born in Saluda County to the late Royal Jackson Bartley and Edith Ridgell Bartley. She married M. P. Winn, and they recently celebrated 69 years of marriage. Marian was a graduate of Saluda High School and went on to work in the textile industry before moving to West Columbia. She was employed by Cloth World for 20 years. She cultivated friendships there with her coworkers and customers that would last a lifetime. She was an expert seamstress herself and sewed beautiful clothing, blankets, you name it, for her children and grandchildren.
Marian was strong in her faith and a believer in Christ. She was a member of the Pioneers Sunday School class at Kittiwake Baptist Church and served as their Treasurer for many years. Her treasure, though, was her family. More than anything, she enjoyed spending time with them, laughing, telling stories or simply holding hands. She was an amazing cook, and her family agrees that her chocolate layer cake was blue ribbon all the way!
Marian is survived by her husband, M.P. Winn; a son, Roy Winn (Vickie) of Lexington; daughters, Virginia Frisch (Mark) of Chesapeake, VA, Amy Troutman (Bobby) of St. Matthews, and Susan Hauptmann (Bill) of Lexington; grandchildren, Kathy and Devin Henson, Rebekah and Justin Brazell, Melanie and Jaye Ingram, Lauren and Ian Zukosky, Thomas Frisch, Carl Troutman, Carrie Troutman, Sarah and John Powers, Erin Hauptmann, and Nolan Hauptmann; great-grandchildren, Anna Claire, Charlie, Emily, Owen, Grace, Colton, Jordan, Ethan, Heidi, and Sean; a brother, George Bartley (Josie); a sister, Mary Gunter; and many loving extended family members. She was predeceased by her brother, Bill, and sisters, Carrie Lou and Royce.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, October 28, 2024, at 11:00 AM, at Kittiwake Baptist Church, 420 Kitti Wake Drive, West Columbia, SC 29170 followed by Interment at Woodridge Memorial Park located at 138 Corley Mill Rd., Lexington, SC 29072. Visitation will be held at Kittiwake Baptist Church beginning at 10:00 AM on October 28.
Memorials may be made to Kittiwake Baptist Church Local Missions Fund or the South Carolina Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association in her memory.
