Gail Janice Paxson passed away peacefully on October 9th, 2024 surrounded by family while fighting AML.
Gail was born in Forks, Washington on December 4th, 1947 to Louis Bernard Williams and Tessibelle Amy Williams (nee' Wiens). She is survived by her husband James Smith of North Bend, Washington; Sister, Susan Williams (Dal) of Dallas, Oregon; Son, Paul Paxson (Julie) of Colorado, Granddaughter Amanda Rodello (Carmelo) of Colorado; Two great grandchildren, Milo and Hadley and several nieces and nephews along with several other relations. She was preceded in death by her Father Louis Williams; Mother, Tessibelle Williams; Daughter, Cynthia Race (nee' Paxson); Sister, Irene Stice (nee' Wiens) and several close cousins.
Gail had a 30 year career working for the U.S. Postal Service beginning in Crabtree, Oregon and ending in Bellingham, Washington. Gail spent her later years in North Bend, Washington. Her final resting place was in Dallas, Oregon while under the care of her sister Susan and son, Paul.
Gail was an avid gardener, reader of literature, card player, traveler/explorer, hiker, finder of treasures and she was a very caring pet owner. She loved the out of doors and was a huge fan of John Denver's music, among others. She touched the lives of all of the people she loved and always had a kind word to say. Gail enjoyed laughing and having fun at whatever she was engaged in. Her glass was always half full and she was always a joy to be around. She was a bright light to all who knew her and will be sorely missed by those who survive her.
Her childhood included several locations including Keizer, Oregon (Popcorn Hill); Lincoln City, Oregon; Myrtle Creek, Oregon and Roseburg, Oregon where she met her first husband, Robert Paxson with whom she had Paul and Cindy.
At her request, no service will be held. Donations may be made in her honor to the American Cancer Society or your local animal shelter.
