Gary Scott Sutherland

Gary Scott Sutherland 71, of Kingsport went to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 12, 2024 at Holston Valley Medical Center. He was an avid musician and played with the Benny Wilson Band at many venues in the Tri-Cities. Gary also enjoyed art and spending time with his family and friends. While Gary was in the hospital he put his faith and trust in the Lord Jesus Christ. He was a loving son, brother, and friend who will be greatly missed by all who knew him. 

He was preceded in death by his father, Scott Sutherland; maternal grandparents, S.E. and Lassie Sampson; paternal grandparents, Aven and Ollie Sutherland.

Survivors include his mother, Eva Jean Sutherland; brothers, Terry and Tim Sutherland; sister, Debbie Morelock; along with several nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.

The family will receive friends from 5pm to 7pm on Thursday, October 17, 2024 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home in Kingsport. A funeral service will follow with Pastor Daniel Sutherland officiating. Music will be provided by Igeary Pearcy. 

A graveside service will be conducted at 12pm on Friday, October 18, 2024 at East Lawn Memorial Park. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery by 11:50am. 

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in his honor.
