Simplicity: Lowcountry Cremation and Burial Services - Ladson
Nancy Carolyn Connelly
May 21st, 1942 - October 13th, 2024
Nancy Carolyn Connelly, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully at her residence, on October 13, 2024, at the age of 82. Born on May 21, 1942, in Fayetteville, NC, Nancy lived a life filled with love, dedication, and an extraordinary work ethic.
A graduate of Linden High School (Linden, NC) in 1956, Nancy found her passion early in life through the art of hair design. Beginning her career in the 1960’s, she quickly made a name for herself, eventually opening and trademarking her own salon, Stylettes in North Charleston, SC. In 1984, she expanded her vision with Stylettes II in Summerville, SC, which later became Oakbrook Hair Design. As a pioneer in her field, Nancy’s salon was the first in Summerville to offer a full suite of beauty services—hair, skin, nails, and tanning—under one roof.
Her clients were more than customers—they became lifelong friends, with many trusting her skilled hands and sharp eye for beauty for over 50 years. Nancy’s love for her work was undeniable, continuing to serve her community with grace and passion until she retired at age 73.
When she wasn’t creating magic in the salon, Nancy could be found tending her yard, crafting beautiful spaces through her love of decorating, and preparing delicious meals for her family. Sundays were sacred—family dinners were her greatest joy, where laughter, love, and the warmth of her kitchen brought everyone together.
Nancy is survived by her devoted husband, Thomas “Tom” Connelly, and her sons Bruce Godwin and Gregory (Mindy) Godwin, whom she shared with her former husband, Glen Godwin. She is also survived by her son Burt Connelly and her beloved grandchildren: Eric Godwin, Todd Godwin, Charles Godwin, and Bentley Connelly, along with four great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Mildred and Raymond Hubbard, her brother, William “Billy” Cain and her daughter-in-law, Julie Godwin.
Nancy’s vibrant spirit, dedication to her craft, and love for her family will live on in the hearts of those who knew her. She will be deeply missed but fondly remembered for her passion, kindness, and the beauty she brought into the world—both in her work and in her life.
The family of Nancy Connelly would like to invite family and friends to a Celebration of Life for Nancy followed by “Sunday Dinner” with the family at Ashley River Park 200 Renken Rd, Summerville, SC, on Sunday, October 27, 1 PM to 4 PM.
