Memorial

Antonio Manarang Chan, 78, passed away on October 13, 2024, in Goose Creek, SC. Born on March 5, 1946, Antonio dedicated his life to his family and his country, retiring from the United States Navy.

Antonio proudly served in the USN from August 4, 1967, to December 7, 1987. During his distinguished military career, he was stationed on the USS Hunley from 1973 to 1977 and the USS Brumby, and also served at the NAVSCSCOL in Athens, GA. Following his military service, he continued to support his community by working at the Charleston Naval Hospital and the 437th Aerial Port Squadron Traffic Management Flight.

A loving and devoted father and husband, Antonio was known for his creativity and resourcefulness. He had a passion for sports, particularly basketball, and enjoyed fishing and shrimping, often making his own equipment. His knack for repurposing discarded items led to a home filled with unique and cherished homemade furnishings. His retirement days were spent talking to his best friend and neighbor, Ramon so they could solve all the world's problems with Anna's caregiver, Alicia.

He is survived by his wife, Lilia Chan; daughter, Lilian Chan-Grant; son-in-law, Brian Grant; grandsons, Robert and Ben Grant; sister-in-law, Josie Chan; nephew, Michael Chan; and great-nephew, Sergio Chan. Antonio walked his daughter, Anamarie Chan, through the Heaven's gate at the same moment.

Antonio's life was marked by his commitment to his family and his nation, leaving behind a legacy of strength and love. His absence will be deeply felt by all who knew him.
