Thomas Edward Lengauer, beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, passed away peacefully on September 20, 2024, at the age of 91. Born in Stoneboro, PA, to Coletta and Edward Lengauer, Tom lived a life of dedication, adventure and love.

Tom’s academic journey led him to the University of Detroit where he earned degrees in Chemical Engineering and a Master of Business Administration. Ever the lifelong learner, he attended night school while working as a Metallurgist at Wolverine Tube Company. Ultimately earning his Juris Doctor degree from the Detroit College of Law. These accomplishments reflected his love of learning and tireless work ethic.

From 1973 to 1991, Tom served as President of the Flint law firm, Neal and Lengauer leaving a legacy of integrity and dedication to his clients. He was later appointed by Gov. Engler to the State Board of Magistrates, where he oversaw disputes under the Workers Disability Act. His commitment to service extended to his community, where he served as a trustee on the Fenton Township Board and was a respected member of the American Bar Association, Michigan Bar Association, and Michigan Defense Trial Council.

Yet, beyond his professional accolades, Tom’s heart was always with his family and his love for the water. He found joy in the simplicity of a day spent boating, fishing, or golfing, but most of all, in the company of his loved ones. Whether on the water of Michigan or later, the shores of Florida, Tom’s happiest moments were often spent outdoors, sharing laughter and memories with the people he cared about most.

After retiring to Florida, Tom cherished being a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 8074 and generously gave his time to volunteer, and also at the local courthouse where he proudly presided over judicial cases. His wisdom and gentle spirit left an indelible mark on everyone that knew him.

Tom leaves behind his devoted wife of 66 years Patricia and his three daughters: Susan, Mary (John), and Carol (Kent). He was the proud grandfather of six grandchildren: Nicholas and Lucian, Emily and Carver, Sierra (Aaron) and Rachel. He also leaves behind his beloved nephew, Steven (Diane), and son-in-law, William (Denise).

Preceding him in death were his parents, his brother Robert (Bernadette), his sister Marian (Ernest) and his grandson Michael.

A funeral mass will be held on November 5th 2024 at 11 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church Punta Gorda, FL. Celebrated by Father Jerome Kaywell. Suggested memorial donations may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society, 25200 Airport Rd. Punta Gorda, Florida 33950 in honor of Tom’s generous spirit.
