Steven "Eric" Ashby
December 30th, 1955 - September 29th, 2024
Steven “Eric” Ashby was born on December 30, 1955 in Redwood City, California to Clifford and Elaine Ashby and went home to God on September 29, 2024 after a year-long battle with cancer. Eric spent his childhood involved with the Boy Scouts of America and formed a lifelong love for the outdoors. He graduated from Sequoia High School in 1974. A few years later, he joined the United States Navy where he served as a Gunner’s Mate and excelled in classes in Missile School. After his service, Eric used his magnetic personality to enter the sales force. He owned Traffic Jam Car Stereo and later used his passion for cars, motorcycles, and bicycles to further his sales career. His last job before retiring was by far his favorite, as the top salesman for Avalanche Harley Davidson.
Eric met the love of his life Cheryl while they were working in a sporting goods store and were married in 1993 on their mountain bikes, in a ceremony at Lake Tahoe. Over the next 31 years, Cheryl and Eric lived in Reno & Sparks Nevada, and later moved to Conifer, Colorado, where they enjoyed exploring the Western U.S.
Eric was well known for his sense of humor, cooking skills, historical knowledge, and enjoyment of the small things like a good cigar and a 49ers game. He also owned Jeeps for many years and explored the trails in the Sierras and Rockies.
For a long time Eric had a desire to serve God. He earned the nickname “Mr. Coffee” at Elk Creek Community Church and Timber Ridge Church by making sure there was good quality coffee for everyone. He considered it an act of service to make everyone feel welcome. Eric had a desire to overcome evil in this world and had a strong belief in the power of prayer.
Eric leaves behind his wife of 31 years, Cheryl, of Conifer Colorado; his son Brandon, daughter in law Toni, and grandchildren, Nahla and Vincent, of Sacramento California; and his extended Colorado family.
A celebration of life will be held on November 16, 2024, at 10am, at the COFA Green barn, 8660 Fairall Rd. in Conifer with a reception to follow.
