It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Martha (Marty) J. Campbell, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt on September 7th, 2024 at home in Chehalis, Washington surrounded by her loved ones. Born on April 3rd, 1940 in Tacoma Washington. She was the 11th of 12 siblings and had many fun stories of an eventful childhood with her many “Fighting McDonald” clan siblings at their Kapowsin homestead.

Finding delight in the simple pleasures of life, Martha was a constant source of strength and love for her family. Described by loved ones as hard-working, determined, kind, considerate, generous, with unwavering energy and at times, a wee bit feisty. She enjoyed gardening, country music, going to the Moose with friends, dancing ("she'd dance your socks off"), the Seattle Mariners and her Seahawks. Most importantly, she reveled and spread great joy by hosting family gatherings especially during Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve.

Martha's eternal love came from spending time with her kids, grandkids and great grandkids and was an avid supporter of their sports and activities. All felt lucky to have a grandma who would do anything to fulfill their wishes with patience like no other. Her dedication to family was evident in every aspect of her life as she nurtured and guided them with the wisdom of a life well lived. These gifts live on in the hearts and minds of those who knew and loved her.

In her late 70's, she began her long battle with Alzheimer's. As the disease progressed, we were blessed with her spunk, giggle and beautiful smile during those years. Her family would like to extend our deepest gratitude to the staff and caregivers with Assured Hospice who provided compassionate care for our mother during her final months/days. Additionally, a huge thank you to Jim, Shana, Mary and Alexis. Without your assistance, we wouldn't have been able to honor mom's wishes to stay in her home.

Martha is survived by three of her five children: Jerry Petrich, Cheri (Pat) Ward, and Terry (Starr) Petrich. In addition to 21 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, brother Terry (Marge) McDonald, brother Bill McDonald, sister-in-law Jean McDonald, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son Larry J. Petrich Jr., daughter Kerry L. Petrich, along with her parents and nine of her siblings.

A celebration of life will be held at 1:00pm on October 27th, 2024 at the Virgil R. Lee building in Chehalis, Washington. Family and friends are invited to gather and honor the beautiful legacy of a woman who made the world a better place simply by being in it. If our sweet Martha touched your life, please consider making a donation in memoriam to the Alzheimer's Association.
