Billie Marie Reed, 83, of Johnstown, CO, passed away peacefully in her home on October 8, 2024. She was surrounded by loved ones and her beloved dogs.

Billie was born May 18,1941 in Akron, Ohio to Lillian Frances Major. They lived in Ohio for several years where Lillian married Richard Messner. They had two brothers for Billie, Paul and Richard “Dick” Messner. As a young girl, the family moved around until they settled on Whidbey Island, Washington where Billie graduated from Oak Harbor High School.

Billie would meet her husband and eternal partner, David Charles Reed on Whidbey Island, while Dave was serving in the United States Navy. Dave and Billie married on May 14, 1960, and started their family right away. Billie was a homemaker to their 13 children and loved every minute of raising her children.  Billie was involved in her church, The Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter-Day Saints. She lived a life of service to others. Billie spent her life helping those in need and trying to make everyone’s day a little bit better.  The thing she loved more than anything in this world was her 13 children, 29 grandchildren and nine- great grandchildren.

Billie was preceded in death by her husband David Reed and parents Lillian and Richard Messner, her brother Dick Messner and grandsons Wyatt James Voitl and Ben Barlow Reed.

Billie is survived by her brother Paul Messner (Marilyn) of Whidbey Island, Washington, children; David Reed, James Reed, Billie Wood (Tracey), Robert Reed (Patricia), Betty Hochmuth (Karl), Edwin Reed (Melanie), Michael Reed, Michelle Pierret (Mike), Wendy Voitl (Jim), Debra Patrick (Jamie), Melissa Podojil (Mike), Jonathan Reed (Erin) and Jennifer Hollingsworth, as well as many grandchildren, great- grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Billie has always been known for her kind spirit and her service to others. Her love of this country and mostly the love of her family.
