William "Bill" John Brandsma, Sr
September 25th, 1945 - October 15th, 2024
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. Psalm 23:6
William “Bill” John Brandsma, Sr, 79, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 15, 2024. He was born to Theodore and Helene Brandsma on September 25, 1945 in Denver, Colorado. He is survived by his wife, Jane, who he celebrated 50 years married in August of this year, daughter, Karen (husband - Josh), son, Bill Jr. (wife - Tarrah), 6 grandchildren (Payton, Audrey, Reese, Teagan, Tatelyn, and Trey), his brother, Richard (wife - Eva), two sisters, Barb and Mary, and sister-in-law Rose. Bill is preceded in death by his parents, Theodore and Helene, and his brother, Ted. Bill graduated from Denver South High School in 1964 and worked as a bricklayer for his uncle and brother in the Denver Area for several years. He also worked on perfecting his bowling game at Celebrity Lanes, qualifying for the Professional Bowlers Association. He met Jane, who was working at Celebrity Lanes as a waitress in 1973, and the two were married August 24, 1974 in Denver. Bill took over his dad’s sprinkler system company and ran the business until he and Jane and his two kids Karen and Bill Jr. moved to Rifle, Colorado in 1982. He worked as the janitor of Rifle Middle School for 5 years before taking a job in the tire department at the Roaring Fork Valley CO-OP in Carbondale, where he worked for 25 years. He retired from the CO-OP as the manager of the fuel department. One of Bill's greatest passions was hunting, and he passed on his love of it through teaching Hunter Safety for 30 years. In 2016, Bill and Jane moved to Parker, Colorado to be closer to their kids and grandkids. His greatest joy was his family, and he rarely missed one of his kids’ or grandkids’ sporting events. While in Parker, he worked at Cabelas in the gun library - his dream job - until April of this year. He was a living testimony of humble, servant-hearted living, making everyone he met feel seen, known, and loved. He loved telling jokes, cherry pie, a good game of corn hole, and bragging about his kids and grandkids. Most importantly he deeply loved Jesus. For the last seven years of his life, Bill pushed through complications from rheumatoid arthritis, congestive heart failure, Parkinson’s symptoms, and Multiple System Atrophy to be as active and present as he could be. His life was marked by faith, love, and laughter. Services for Bill will be at Crossroads Church located at 9900 S Twenty Mile Rd, Parker, CO 80134, on Monday, November 4th at 11am.
