Ellen Ruth Gutermuth
July 31st, 1942 - October 17th, 2024
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Ellen R. Gutermuth (née Siekemeyer) on October 17, 2024, at the age of 82. Ellen was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, whose warmth and kindness left an indelible mark on everyone who knew her.
Ellen is survived by her devoted husband, Robert L. Gutermuth; her loving children, Robert E. Gutermuth (Erika), Betsy Barnes (Steve), and Randall Gutermuth (Margaret); her dear sister, Norene Shipman; and her cherished grandchildren, Patricia Barnes, Lucas Barnes, and Georgia Gutermuth.
Known for her unwavering faith, assertiveness, and commitment to others, Ellen’s deep love for family and friends was evident in all she did. She found joy in playing bridge and other competitive games, enjoyed Broadway shows, loved reading, and cherished the time spent socializing with her many friends.
Ellen dedicated over a decade to teaching in Cleveland, Ohio, where she was instrumental in launching a business co-op program. Following her teaching career, she and her husband built a successful international manufacturing business that allowed them to travel the world and provide a rich, fulfilling life for their children.
A celebration of Ellen’s life will be held at St. Gabriel Church in Charlotte, NC, on October 22nd, with a viewing starting at 10 AM and Mass beginning at 11 AM. While Ellen will be deeply missed, she will be forever remembered for the love and light she brought into the world.
