Gary William Moura
April 26th, 1955 - October 10th, 2024
Gary William Moura, aged 69, passed away suddenly on October 10, 2024, at his home in Ocala, Florida. He was born in Hartford, Connecticut, on April 26, 1955, to Lucille (Laferriere) and the late George Moura. Gary spent most of his life in Connecticut before moving to Ocala six years ago.
He attended Burnside School and was a proud member of East Hartford High School, Class of 1973. In his youth, Gary showcased his athletic skills by playing Little League baseball for Dworin Chevrolet and also exhibited his musical talent as the lead guitarist in his band.
Gary excelled as a machinist, holding positions at United Technologies Pratt and Whitney, specializing in centerless grinding. He retired from Gammons Hoaglund Machine Shop in Manchester, Connecticut in 2017 before relocating to Florida in 2018. Outside of work, Gary found joy in fishing, boating, and frequent trips to Nettles Island in Jensen Beach to connect with loved ones. He adored animals, and his lab retriever Kuro brought much happiness and comfort to him. In addition, Gary had a deep appreciation for rock and roll music and Motown classics.
Survived by his fiancée and companion, Cindy A. Mulvey of Ocala, Florida, Gary is also mourned by his mother, Lucille Reinkendorff of Nettles Island, Jensen Beach, Florida; his daughter Vanessa Ryder (Griffin) and grandchildren Vivienne and Will Ryder of Massachusetts; his sisters Gloria Myers of Jensen Beach, Florida, Brenda (Paul) Healy of South Windsor, Connecticut, and Lisa Javarauckas of Suffield, Connecticut; numerous aunts, uncles; special nieces and nephews including: Craig Myers/Stacie, Melissa Kalisz/Scott, (Goddaughter) Kristin Gothers/Matt, Derek Healy/Michele, Nicholas Healy/Virginia, Justin Healy, and Rocco Malizia; and Godson Jeffrey Sylvester.
Preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Adelord and Victoria (Duprey) Laferriere, William Reinkendorff, Wayne Myers, Ryan Malizia, and David Javarauckas, Gary will forever hold a special place in the hearts of those who knew him. He treasured his family deeply and was a good soul.
