Cassandra R Doherty

May 29, 1959 - October 11, 2024

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Cassandra "Casi" Raye Doherty, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt. She passed away peacefully on October 11, 2024, after a hard-fought battle with cancer. Casi lived a life full of love, dedication, and joy, touching the hearts of everyone who knew her.

Casi is survived by her husband, James “Jim” P. Doherty, her cherished children, son James “Jimmy” C. Doherty (Josephine) and daughter Erin Billings (Lawrence), and her adored grandsons, James “JJ” J. Doherty, Justin C. Doherty, and Jace Billings. She also leaves behind her big sisters, Colleen Larsen and Renae Massey, as well as her nieces and nephews, Torrie Hossfeld, Kevin Massey (Amy), and Jerad Massey. She is preceded in death by her beloved brother, Carl Johnson, whose memory she held dear as well as her parents Aileen and Charles Johnson.

Casi worked at the racetrack, starting at the age of 18 and retiring as the facilities manager of Havana Park in October of 2023 following her cancer diagnosis. She was known for her dedication and work ethic throughout her 45-year career.

Casi will be remembered for her deep love of her family. She was a devoted wife to Jim, always by his side through life's ups and downs. She was a tremendous mother, giving her unwavering support to her children, Jimmy and Erin. Though she did not have many years as a grandmother, having grandchildren was one of the greatest joys of her life. She cherished every second spent with her three grandsons, and fought as hard as she did to be able to spend more time with JJ, Justin, and Jace. Casi loved caring for her pets and leaves behind her three border collies.

Casi’s passing has brought her family closer together, bound by the love and memories they shared with her. Her strong bond with her sisters, Colleen and Renae, was a central part of her life. Casi loved them dearly, and their connection only strengthened throughout the years.

Casi's legacy of love, resilience, and kindness will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

A celebration of Casi's life will be held at the Lake House at Cherry Creek State Park on October 23, 2024 at 2:30 PM - 4800 South Dayton Street Greenwood Village, CO 80111
