Earl Muffett
June 15th, 1932 - October 13th, 2024
It is with great love and tenderness that we celebrate the life of Earl Muffett; an honest, hardworking entrepreneur, who cared deeply for others and lived to make people smile. A man of hope and a man of faith, his positive influence wasn't just felt by the family he loved dearly, but also by the communities he served.
He was born June 15, 1932, in Fordsville, KY to Roy and Delia Muffett, as the youngest of 5 children. On December 20, 1952, he married his sweetheart, Phyllis Jackson, in Owensboro, Kentucky. In 1953 Earl and Phyllis moved from Owensboro, KY to Hammond, Indiana where he began his entrepreneurial journey as a long-haul truck driver and co-owner of Muffett Trucking Company. In 1968, with Phyllis and their 3 children, he moved to Summerfield, FL where he founded Earl's Well Drilling & Pump Service, fulfilling his vision of providing families and farmers with safe and reliable water. For over 40 years he labored in this business with each of his children working by his side sometime along the journey, a legacy which is still in family operation
today. Serving as a Trustee for Sumter Electric for 30 years also offered him numerous
opportunities to care for and connect with his community, which he greatly enjoyed. Earl never met a stranger and was always there to help anyone in need.
Earl is survived by his darling wife, Phyllis, and their three children: Mike Muffett (Irene), Darlene Skinner, and David Muffett, with 12 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.
