Michele Jo Levenson, age 79 of Roseville, passed away on October 21, 2024, after a long battle with progressive dementia. The daughter of Abraham and Alma Levenson, she spent her early years in St. Paul’s Rondo neighborhood living behind the family grocery store on University and Farrington. A graduate of the University of Minnesota, she worked in health care and at Metro Transit before retiring to an active volunteer life. Always a friend of the underdog, Michele served on many political campaigns and as a reading tutor at St Peter Claver School.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters Dorothy and Bridget, brother Allen Finnegan, niece Maureen Coleman, nephew Nick Coleman (Laura), nephews Allen and Tom Finnegan, and nieces Shanna and Kitty McCann. She is survived by five nieces and nephews, Patrick (Sally), Meghan, Christopher (Connie), Brendan (Sarka) and Emmett (Carrie) Coleman and niece Maggie McCann as well as thirteen great nieces and nephews and many friends. “Ancient Aunt Michele,” as she liked to call herself, was a warm and loving presence to the children in her life and loved spending time with them baking cookies, flying kites, and cheering at ball games, swim meets, concerts, and school plays.

In recent years, Michele was cared for by her best friend Cathy Hayden and most recently the caring staff at Suite Living in Roseville and Interim Hospice. Funeral services will take place at 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 25 at Spielman Mortuary, 344 University Ave. West, a short block from her first home. There will be a private interment at Calvary Cemetery. Memorials preferred to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Spielman Mortuary

Spielman Mortuary

Spielman Mortuary has been helping Saint Paul families since 1950 when Kenneth and Helen Spielman purchased the National Funeral Home. For over 30 years, the couple lived above the funeral home and took just one vacation. They sold the home in 1984 to the Willwerscheid family. We still operate Spielman Mortuary with the same traditions of pride, sensitivity, value, and attention to detail that the Spielmans followed for over three decades....
