Matthew Von Kaenel

Matthew J. Von Kaenel, 60, passed away suddenly on Saturday, October 19, 2024. A visitation with a Rosary will be held on Thursday, October 24, 2024 from 6 to 7:30 PM at Heritage Memorial Funeral Home. A funeral Mass will take place on Friday, October 25, 2024 at 11 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 300 S. Davis Drive, Warner Robins, GA 31088. Father Fred Nijem and Deacon Jim Hunt will officiate.

Matthew was born on February 4, 1964 in Erie, Pennsylvania, the son of the late James and MaryAnn Brabender Von Kaenel. He was a graduate of Cathedral Preparatory School in Erie, Pennsylvania, where he lettered in four separate sports. Matthew attended St. Bonaventure University. He proudly served in the United States Navy and participated in the Persian Gulf War. Matthew married Sandra Bobkoski in Mooresville, North Carolina, and together with her son Andrew Bobkoski they settled in Kathleen, Georgia. Sandra was the love of his life and the three of them had an unbreakable bond. Matthew had a successful career in the vinyl fence industry and was looking forward to a new endeavor with Southern Vinyl Manufacturing in Columbia, South Carolina. Matthew was a longtime member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Warner Robins, Georgia, and served many years on the Parish Council.

Though his time was too short, his life was fully lived. He treasured time spent with family. Matthew’s legacy is one of strength, love and commitment. He joined his beloved Sandra, who passed away just ten days prior. Matthew will be greatly missed by Andrew, and his surviving brother and sisters, Diane Von Kaenel, Jim Von Kaenel (MaryLou), MaryBeth Cook, Carolyn Dunn (Norb), as well as nieces, nephews and wonderful friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that a donations be made to the American Heart Association.
