Richard "Dick" Milton Hunsaker
October 26th, 1934 - July 3rd, 2024
Richard M. Hunsaker, 89, passed away on July 4, 2024 in Ogden, Utah. He was born October 26, 1934 in Los Angeles California to Milton L. and Mary (Ferrlan) Hunsaker. He was preceded in death by his wife, Claudia, his parents, Milt and Mary Hunsaker and his son in law, George Badovinatz.
Dick graduated from South High School in Salt Lake City. Dick met the love of his life, Claudia, while they were attending the University of Utah, where he received his Bachelor’s degree. Dick was a member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity.
Dick and Claudia were married June 14, 1956 in Salt Lake City, Utah while Dick was serving an active duty tour for the United States Army. Their journeys took them through Utah, Oklahoma, Montana, Wyoming and Colorado, eventually retiring in Loveland, Colorado.
During his career he had many varied interests to include Law Enforcement in multiple states, Real Estate, Phillips 66, and retiring from Marion Merrell Dow Company in 1994.
Dick loved being with his family, playing games, camping, traveling, attending musicals/plays or just watching television. He was a devoted father and grandfather attending as many sporting and musical events of his children and grandchildren to include swimming, water polo, football, soccer, piano, jazz, marching and concert band performances, not to mention all the other numerous school activities. He often traveled hundreds of miles to attend the activities. He was extremely proud of his children and grandchildren.
Dick was an avid sportsman and went fishing and hunting as often as possible with family and friends. He earned the name “Fishhead” for his love of fishing and his infamous fish hat.
He was very involved in his community. He enjoyed belonging to the Jaycees, Elks, Kiwanis and Loveland Volunteer Police Department Safety Council.
He is survived by his two daughters; Cheryl Buckley (Dan) and Kathy Badovinatz, his brother; Doug Hunsaker(Jane), Grandchildren; Mindy Dodge (Matt), Mike Badovinatz (Jackie), Eric Badovinatz; 4 great grandchildren Adalynn, River, Keira, Erik, 1 great, great grandchild Deegan, many nieces and nephews.
Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, June 14, 2025 time TBD at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church located at 1730 W. 12th Street with a reception following in St. John’s Hall. Cremation has been completed and an inurnment will take place June 14, 2025. at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver, Colorado.
The family would like to thank Beehive Care Center of Farmington New Mexico, Legacy House of Ogden and Symbi Hospice and Home Health Care for all their care and support.
