James Monk

James Monk, a resident of Sutter Creek, California, passed away on October 13, 2024. He was born on September 13, 1921, in Decatur, Alabama. James was a veteran of World War II and served in the Army, Army Air Corps, and the Air Force during his military career. He graduated from the University of Alabama with a degree in Industrial Engineering and worked for Pacific Telephone in Southern California for 30 years, retiring in 1983. James was the husband of Bernice Murphree, also of Decatur, Alabama, who passed away in 2010 after 68 years of marriage. James was a devoted Christian and was a member of the Sutter Creek Church of the Nazarene. He is survived by his children Ron, Janice, and Shelley and six grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, November 1, 2024, at 11:00am at the Sunset View Cemetery in Jackson, California. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the benevolence fund at the Sutter Creek Church of the Nazarene, 14050 Ridge Road, Sutter Creek, California.
