Joan R. McNeer
August 2nd, 1942 - October 20th, 2024
Joan R. McNeer passed away Sunday, October 20, 2024. She was 82 years old. A memorial service is planned for Saturday, November 2, 2024 at 1 PM at Faith Lutheran Church, 301 North Pleasant Hill Road, Warner Robins, GA 31093. A visitation time will take place one hour prior between 12 PM and 1 PM. She will be laid to rest next to her late husband, Dennis McNeer, Sr..
Joan was born on August 2, 1942, in Kosciusko, MS to the late Lewis Roberts and Hazel Roberts. After graduating from Benton High School, Joan received a Bachelor's degree in Education from Mississippi State University and a Master’s degree in Counseling from the University of Georgia. She taught elementary school for 12 years and subsequently worked as an adoption specialist over 20 years.
Joan was passionately devoted to her husband, children, and grandchildren. An only child, she considered her cousins, Denese Shumaker, Lynn Peeler, and Jill Knight as siblings. She enjoyed playing duplicate bridge and was a Life Master. Additionally, she loved music and reading.
She is survived by her son, Dennis (Karen) McNeer Jr., grandchildren: Tai Whitten, Hunter McNeer, Erin (Michael) Mitchell, and A.J. (Amanda) Riser, and great-grandchildren: Drew, Cillian, and Xavier Whitten, Tripp and Maddox Mitchell, and Axel and Adaline Riser. Along with her parents and husband, she is also preceded in death by her son, Paul Roberts McNeer.
