Charles “Chuck” Herbert Marshall Saylor of Thornton, Colorado passed away on Thursday, October 17, 2024 at the age of 79, surrounded by family at his home. He was born in Northville, Michigan on February 26, 1945 to Herbert and Beatrice Saylor. He grew up in Lincoln Park, Michigan, where he met his wife, Linda. He graduated from the University of Michigan with a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and later obtained his Master’s degree in Systems Science from Michigan State University. He is preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Beatrice. He is survived by his wife, Linda Saylor (married 56 years), his children: Robert Saylor, Mark Saylor, Justin Saylor and Jennifer Tagg, his sisters: Kay Gervais, Jan Butler, Terry DeWeerd and Vicki Littlejohn, and six grandchildren: Trevor, Courtney, Max, Wyatt, Samantha and Damon.

Charles loved spending time with his family and pets, exploring the mountains, being near lakes, rivers or the ocean, soaking at hot springs, and observing nature. He loved road trips and had visited most of the United States, enjoying the natural splendor and scenery each place had to offer. He had diverse tastes in food and music. He liked to discuss his passion for engineering, science, the natural world, and space/astronomy.  He was proud of his career in Electrical Engineering and his last job before retirement in 2014 was with City of Longmont Power and Communications.

Some of his favorite places were Boulder, Rocky Mountain National Park, Arches National Park, Canyonlands National Park, Black Canyon of the Gunnison, the Maroon Bells, Western Montana, Lake Michigan, and the Gulf Coast of Florida. He lived in Missouri, California and Upstate New York before moving to Colorado. He enjoyed hiking and camping, and his last camping trip was in August 2020 at Taylor Park Reservoir, where his parents used to bring him when he was a child.

Charles will be dearly missed by his family and remembered always for his smile, sense of humor, and warm hugs.
