Robert Arthur Hague, 93, a long-time resident of Olathe, KS, and Melbourne, FL passed away on October 18, 2024, at VITAS Hospice House in Rockledge, FloridaHe was born January 6, 1931, to Arthur and Ethlyn (Fuller) Hague in New Haven, CT. He proudly served our country in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and was Honorably Discharged at the US Naval Air Station, Olathe, KS.In Olathe, he met the love of his life, Diana Sue (Messer) Hague. He was preceded in death by his wife Diana in February 2002. Their marriage produced two children: Mark Robert Hague (deceased in September 1959) and their daughter Lori, of whom he was very proud. After graduating from the University of Connecticut in June of 1954 with a language degree, he began his career with the U.S. Air Force as an intercept controller at Goose Bay Field in Labrador, Newfoundland for a year, then returned to the Olathe Naval Air Station. After his discharge from the USAF, he returned to Connecticut to work for the Pratt and Whitney Aircraft engine plant. From afar, he continued his courtship of Diana, soon realizing that his heart was in Olathe. In early 1958, he moved back to Olathe, and in April married his one and only true love Diana Messer. He worked from 1958 until July of 1965 at Kansas City Air Route Traffic Control Center, except for a       9-month assignment in Aurora, IL. In 1968, he accepted a position with Trans World Airlines (TWA), in Kansas City, and eventually St. Louis where he worked until his retirement in 1994. During his years at TWA, Bob taught ATC procedures, aviation weather, International Aviation procedures, and dispatch procedures for both domestic and overseas personnel. He was especially proud when his daughter Lori, became a flight attendant for Global International Airlines in 1983, completing her inflight services training at TWA with instructors that Bob had taught. Bob was a member of the Olathe Jaycees, where he was a past president, otherwise known as an Exhausted Rooster, a member of the Olathe Masonic Lodge #19, and honored as a past Master Mason, receiving his 50-year pin in 2014. He and Diana enjoyed several joint groups which included a couple’s bridge group, Holiday Club, Olathe Junior Service League events, the Olathe Historical Society, and held memberships at First United Methodist Church, and First Presbyterian Church in Olathe. He also participated in the choirs in St. Peter’s, MO, Elgin, IL, and his last choir of Faith Viera Lutheran in Rockledge, Florida where he participated in the gospel group, contemporary singing group, and chancel choir. He was a member of the Connecticut Club, a singles group, and participated in several fund-raising events with Tom and Lori. He was an avid lover of all things history, geography, and sports, often being able to regale you for hours with information and stories, or in the words of his beloved Diana “the man with a mind like an elephant.” He was a sponge! He enjoyed outings to the KC Royals games with friends and family, was a diehard KC Chiefs fan, and anything that related to his Kansas University Jayhawks, and the University of Connecticut Huskies, his alma mater. Bob is survived by his loving daughter, Lori, her husband Tom Taylor, his granddaughter Lauren Taylor Simantz and her husband Scott, and his grandson, Joel TaylorServices will be held at Faith Viera Lutheran Church at 5550 Faith Dr. – Rockledge, FL 32955 on Saturday, November 2, 2024, at 11:00 AM with a light lunch to follow.
