Patrick Kneip
July 9th, 1946 - October 16th, 2024
Patrick Michael Kneip, born July 9, 1946, died at home in Lacey on October 16, 2024. Pat was born in Everett Washington and grew up in Tacoma. He attended St. Martin’s High School and Pacific Lutheran University. Pat joined the Army shortly after graduating high school in 1964 and was stationed in Germany. He graduated from PLU and worked as an accountant for St. Regis Paper Mill in Tacoma before moving to Sitka Alaska with his family to work at Alaska Lumber and Pulp (ALP). Pat left ALP to start a fuel business in Sitka in the 1970s.
Pat and Shelley met in Alaska in 1982. They were married in 1983 and relocated to the Puget Sound area. Pat started several successful small businesses, including a check cashing business, a chicken farm, and a Bobcat rental company. His forte, however, was investing, which he did from home up to the time of his death
Pat and Shelley moved to Lacey in 2019 from Port Orchard where they had lived for 20 years. Pat loved his many dogs and successfully rehabilitated and trained several rescue dogs. He also loved playing bridge and was a hobby plane enthusiast.
Pat is survived by his wife, Shelley, and two children, Michael Kneip of Seattle and Kasey (Ken) Myhra of Redmond, and four beloved granddaughters, Maya and Bella Kneip and Caroline and Natalie Myhra. He is also survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Connie and Paul Buckholtz of Lacey, his niece Megan Danish and nephew David Buckholtz and numerous other nieces and nephews. Pat was predeceased by his son Marc Kneip and his parents, Louise and Michael Kneip.
A Celebration of Life will be held for Pat on Saturday December 7, 2024, 1 to 3 p.m. at the Jubilee Lodge, 8487 Bainbridge Loop NE, Lacey, WA 98516. Memorial donations may be made in Pat's name to Make-A-Wish Alaska & Washington at https://wish.org/akwa.
