Family called him Dick or Tricky Dickie. Friends fondly called him Truck. Age 70 years old. Born January 1954, in San Mateo, CA. Passed away in May 2024 at home in Pollock Pines, CA.

Dick grew up in Redwood City, CA. Attended elementary school at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, 8th grade McKinley, and graduated from Sequoia High School class of 1972. He enjoyed playing basketball at the back courts of Sequoia and at Red Morton Park with his high school friends. Dick participated in the Bob Anderson Boy's night boxing event winning the heavy weight division. His introduction to driving heavy equipment, started as a teenager spending summers with his sister Chris and her husband Bosko doing tractor work at Lake Berryessa and Pope Valley. After high school, he worked for a tow truck company in the Bay Area and then ran backhoe for several years subcontracting with P, G, & E before moving up to the Camino /Placerville/Pollock Pines area. He acquired a contractor's license in heavy equipment for paving and underground construction, which provided him success in bidding municipal jobs in the Lake Tahoe, Sacramento, Reno and Sierra Nevada Mountains. He was a member of the Union of Operating Engineers for the last 15 years of his career then retired due to Chronic Emphysema and Cardiovascular disease. In retirement, he was able to permanently live back in the mountains near his children. He loved being outdoors and going fishing with his brother and sons. Rest and relaxation was enjoyed with a beer and friends.

Married in 1978 to Jayne Long. They divorced in 1990, after having 3 children. Dick was a loving and devoted father to his children, Denny, Richie and Megan, plus several grandchildren living in Northern, CA. Surviving siblings are his sister Cathy(Steve) Vollmer of TX, brother Adam Patterson and sister in law, Diane (Tom's wife) both in Northern, CA.
