A butterfly's dance, a symbol of love, now you fly free, in heavens above.

     Russell Alden North, aged 95, of Bradenton, Florida, formerly of Acton, Massachusetts passed away on October 6th, 2024. Born on September 10, 1929, Russell was known for his gentle and kind soul, touching the lives of many with his warmth and generosity.

     Throughout his life, Russell embarked on a diverse career path, leaving a significant mark in various fields. He had notable stints, and his work with Otis elevators and Brunswick bowling alleys took him across the United States and to numerous countries, showcasing his expertise and dedication. Additionally, Russell ventured into selling modular homes and business accounting systems, illustrating his versatile skill set and entrepreneurial spirit.

     A passionate gardener, Russell dedicated many hours to cultivating his flourishing gardens and contributing to community gardens around Bradenton as a Master Gardener. His love for nature extended to creating butterfly cages, aiding in the reproduction of various butterfly species, especially the Monarchs, and enhancing local biodiversity.

     Russell was a devout member of the Lutheran Church in Lakewood Ranch, where he found spiritual solace and community.

     He leaves behind a loving family, including his three children, Janet Smith and her husband Jeffrey of Sarasota, Russell North and his wife Marie of Englewood, and Philip North and his wife Giselle of Amherst, New Hampshire. Russell was a proud grandfather to seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 63 years, Erna (Clausen) North.

     Details of the memorial service will be announced later and is planned to be held in New Hampshire. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Russell's memory may be made to the Tidewell Hospice, 3550 South Tamiami Trail, Sarasota Florida, 34239 or The Cathedral of the Pines, 10 Hale Hill Road, Rindge NH, 03461, a place he held dear and will be laid to rest eternally. 

     Russell's legacy of kindness, dedication, and community involvement will be cherished and remembered by all who knew him.
