Gloria Ierna (Giarratano)

Lena “Gloria” Ierna (Giarratano) (89) of St. Petersburg, Florida passed away on October 24th at 10:30am at Menorah Life in St. Petersburg, Florida. Gloria is survived by her beloved husband Joseph of 69 years! Gloria was born in Hartford, CT on January 3, 1935 to the late Salvatore and Carmela Giarratano. She graduated from Buckley High School and worked for the Phoenix Bank for 3 years. She was married on Nov. 25, 1955. They moved to Florida in 1962. Gloria was very active in her childrens’ lives. She did volunteer work at St. Jude’s and St. Pete Catholic for many years while her children attended. She later became a realtor for Century 21…. She retired from Macy’s after 20 years of service. She is survived by her husband Joseph, her daughters Karen Little and partner Ron Stansel of Treasure Island, Florida; Dr. Kim Kitchen and fiancée Tommy Pickles of Palm Island, Florida and Wilmington, North Carolina; her sons Joseph Jr and Nicola Ierna of Long Island, Bahamas; Todd and Cindy Ierna of St. Petersburg, Florida; her grandchildren Alysa Ierna of Tallahassee, Florida and Taylor Little of Treasure Island Florida.

Gloria was the last surviving family member of 8 children born to Salvatore and Carmela. She leaves 43 wonderful nieces and nephews and their spouses. Many grand nieces and nephews and 19 great great nieces and nephews… Gloria was a devoted, wife, mother, grandmother and aunt. She was friend to all and will be dearly missed each and every day!

Burial is at Calvary Catholic Cemetery, 5233 118th Avenue North, Clearwater, Florida 33706 at 10am. Grave site location Block DM4 – Section D – Grave 3

Celebration gathering is at Carrabba’s Italian Grill, 3530 Tyrone Blvd North, St. Petersburg Florida 33710 at 12noon.
