On Wednesday, October 16, 2024, at the age of 88, Werner Grosshans, husband of 67 years, Dad, and Grandpa arrived home in Heaven. Werner was born in 1936 in Friedenstal, Romania/(Bessarabia) to Jacob and Marie (Wieland) Grosshans. Werner emigrated to Lodi, California in 1952 where he attended Lodi High School. After high school, he pursued higher education at San Jose State University graduating with a degree in accounting and later obtained his MBA from George Washington University.  In 1957, he married Dorothy, and together they raised two children: Kathleen and Craig.

 

Known for his hardworking and disciplined nature, Werner dedicated 35 years as a public servant with the Federal Government with 33 years of service to the US GAO (Government Accountability Office). Werner began his diversified GAO career as a government auditor in the San Francisco Regional Office ultimately rising to the position of Assistant Comptroller General of the United States, a title he held until his retirement in 1993. In retirement, Werner was self-employed with his Accounting and tax service dedicated to helping others for 27 years.

 

Werner was passionate about traveling with his family, golfing, gardening, growing fruit trees, woodworking, and cheering for his beloved Bayern Munich Soccer 

Team. Werner's legacy is one of service, dedication, generosity, and love.

 

Werner is preceded in death by his parents, Jacob and Marie Grosshans, and sister Edith.  Werner is survived by his wife Dorothy as well as daughter Kathleen (Preston) Bach, son Craig (Terri) Grosshans, grandsons Connor (Adrian) Bach, Carson Bach, Carter (Monica) Bach, Casey Bach, Kyle (Holly) Grosshans, granddaughter Danielle (Dylan) Toepelt, great grandchildren Michaela Bach, Benton Toepelt, Colson Toepelt, Ella Grosshans, brother Karl (Robin) Grosshans, nephews Mark, Glen (Amy) Gruebele, and nieces Denise (Robert) Vermeltfoort and Susan (Mark) Evans.  At the family’s request there will be a private burial. Memorial donations may be made to the Hospice of Amador and Calaveras: 1500 S. Hwy 49 #205 Jackson, CA 95642.
